Savannah man killed, two juveniles injured in collision Saturday with semi-truck on Highway 36

DEKALB COUNTY, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — A Savannah man is dead and two juveniles are in the hospital after a semi-truck crashed into an SUV on U.S. Highway 36 on Saturday night.
The fatal two-vehicle crash occurred just before 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, after a Chevy Tahoe traveling north on Missouri Route 33 failed to stop at a stop-sign at the intersection with U.S. Highway 36, pulling directly into the path of an oncoming 2025 Volvo Conventional semi-truck heading east.
The semi collided with the Tahoe, causing both vehicles to run off the north side of Highway 36 and into the median roughly two miles west of Osborn, Missouri, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The Chevy Tahoe, which had three occupants from Savannah, Missouri, came to rest upright in front of the semi-truck in the median facing northwest and caught fire, while the semi-truck overturned on its right side and came to rest facing north in the median with its towed unit blocking the eastbound passing lane.
The driver of the Chevy Tahoe, a 34-year-old male from Savannah, Missouri, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dekalb County coroner at 9:53 p.m.
Two juveniles in the Tahoe, a 12-year-old female and a 13-year-old male, were transported by DeKalb-Clinton Ambulance to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with moderate to severe injuries.
The 13-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt when the crashed occurred and suffered serious injuries according to the MSHP crash report.
The driver of the semi, a 36-year-old man from Boca Raton, Florida, was unharmed.
The crash also led to a secondary collision just a few minutes later after 9 p.m. when a 21-year-old man from Cameron, Missouri, crashed into the semi-truck's towed unit blocking the eastbound passing lane, causing moderate injuries.
A Highway Patrol crash report indicates smoke and fog obscured the vision of the driver.
The man was driving a 2009 Toyota Venza and was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt. He was later transported by private vehicle to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.
