ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- Missouri Western women's soccer is headed to the NCAA tournament after a thrilling walk-off win in overtime to claim the program's first-ever MIAA tournament championship on Saturday.

The No. 4-seed Griffons (12-2-7) topped No. 6-seed Central Oklahoma (10-6-5) to secure the MIAA Tournament Championship on Saturday in Wichita, Kansas, capping off an impressive run that included wins over rival No. 5-seed Northwest Missouri State and No. 8-seed Northeastern State.

The Griffons struck first in the match just before the 6-minute mark as sophomore Kiara Carr took advantage of a look setup by teammate Rosemary Pujado.

The Bronchos knotted the score at 1-1 after finding the net in the 18th minute, a score that would hold for the remainder of regulation.

Freshman Ava Martin would be the hero for the Griffons in overtime, firing a perfectly-timed cross from Kiara Carr to secure the championship.

The Griffons will learn their next opponent in the opening round of the NCAA tournament during the selection show on Monday, Nov. 17, which will be streamed live on NCAA.com at 5:30 p.m.
