Tracking Halloween chills and freezing temperatures

Good morning St. Joseph, and happy Halloween!

We’re waking up to another cold and spooky start this Halloween morning. A Frost Advisory is in effect for Buchanan County, Clinton County, and counties south of Highway 36, where temperatures may dip to freezing — or very close to it again early today.

Areas north of Highway 36 are not included in the advisory since they have already had several mornings of colder temperatures and vegetation has adjusted to the chill.

Today will feel very similar to yesterday with highs only in the mid to upper 50s. We’ll see pockets of sunshine and the chance for some patchy fog again early tomorrow morning.

For trick-or-treaters tonight, expect temperatures in the low 50s to upper 40s during prime candy-collecting time. If you’re staying out late, temperatures will fall into the low 30s, so make sure to bundle up under those costumes!

As we head into Saturday morning, a Freeze Watch is in effect with temperatures expected to drop below freezing. Saturday will be our coldest day of the week, with highs only near 50°.

After Saturday, we start a warming trend — upper 50s on Sunday, low 60s by Monday, and upper 60s by mid-week next week.
