Tracking possible morning frost and seasonable temperatures

Good morning, St. Joseph, and happy Wednesday! It’s a cool start to the day, with temperatures in the low to mid-40s across the region.

A Frost Advisory is in effect early this morning until 9 a.m., and again from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday, due to expected frost development. The advisory includes Atchison, Nodaway, Worth, Gentry, Harrison and Holt counties in Missouri.

If you have any sensitive plants, you’ll want to bring them inside or cover them to prevent frost damage.

Today will feel a bit warmer than Tuesday, thanks to lighter winds and slightly higher temperatures. Highs will reach around 66 degrees, which is right on par with seasonal averages for mid-October. Conditions will stay dry and mostly sunny through the day.

Thursday will also stay mainly dry, with rain chances returning Friday. Most of the rain looks to stay south of U.S. Highway 36, though a few stray showers could reach the area Friday afternoon.

Temperatures will remain seasonable through the weekend, with highs in the low 60s. The cooler, fall-like pattern continues into early next week, though rain chances and cloud cover may increase again by late weekend or Monday.
