Claycomb, Delores M. 1935-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Delores Mae Claycomb, 90, of St Joseph, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at a Wathena, Kansas, health care facility. She was born Aug. 11, 1935, in St. Joseph, daughter of Eva Esther (Powers) and Loyd Simpson Sr.
Delores attended Benton High School. On Dec. 31, 1954, she married Jay Claycomb. She spent many years owning and operating many store fronts, which included the Cody House, in Weston, Missouri, and Lemon Tree Antique Shop, in St. Joseph. She loved supporting her children in all their activities. She was very passionate about everything she did, whether it was designing, painting, floral arrangements, or antiques. Delores was a member of the St. Joseph Show and Shine Club, and the former Carnegie Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death is her husband, Jay Claycomb; her parents; brother, Loyd Simpson II; and sister, Mary Wilcoxson.
Survivors include: her three sons, Larry (Treasa) Claycomb, of St. Joseph, Richard (Tami) Claycomb, of Agency, Missouri, and Scott (Shirley) Claycomb, of St. Joseph; sisters, Marty (William) Winder, of St. Joseph, and Marna (Jerry) Milbourne; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Ms. Claycomb has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
