Crabill, Helen M. 1927-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Helen Marie Crabill, 97, of St. Joseph, passed away Oct. 15, 2025. She was born Oct. 20, 1927, in Coffey, Missouri, to Clayton Dee Brown and Gertrude Mae Brown (Parmley). She was the youngest of four children.
She grew up during the Great Depression and spent her childhood in Odessa, Missouri, before the Brown family settled in Gallatin, Missouri. Under the guidance of their parents, the siblings grew to be gifted raconteurs and shared many delightful stories of their adolescence.
Helen graduated from Gallatin High School in 1945. Besides working in the family restaurant with her sisters, she was employed in the local newspaper office. Helen was a member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church,
Helen married Guy Stanley Crabill II on Dec. 9, 1949.
Survivors are two sons, Guy S. Crabill III, Mark K. Crabill (Sandra); three grandchildren, Wyatt Crabill (Debbie), Melissa Bratton (Scott), Michelle Toelle (Anthony); five great-grandchildren, Devin Butzin, Trevor Crabill, Keely Peterson, Kylee Peterson, Olivia Bratton; other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; granddaughter, Ashley Duncan; sisters, Dixie Dee Olsen, Mickie Lee Cox; and brother, Doolin Parmley Brown
Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Open Door Food Kitchen.
Services will be on Helen’s 98th Birthday, Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Monday, preceding the funeral service at the funeral home. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
