Peter Cagg 81, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, in a St. Joseph health care center. He was born May 5, 1944, in St. Joseph, son of the late Ethel and Lawrence Cagg.

He graduated from Central High School, then entered the United States Army, serving in two tours in Vietnam, he was trained as a Russian interpreter and very proud of his service. He then served in the 135th Signal Battalion Missouri Army National Guard retiring from service in 1999. Peter furthered his education at Missouri Western State University achieving a bachelor of science in 1995, then a Masters degree from Almeda College and University in Electronic Technology.

Peter owned a T.V. repair shop for 10 years, worked at Whitaker Cable, and Wire Rope as an electrician. He finished his career as a substitute teacher with the St. Joseph School District as well as adjunct professor at Missouri Western State College.

He enjoyed Royals Baseball, loved to sing and play his guitar and enjoyed watching his westerns on TV. He was a Christian.

Peter was preceded in death by wife, Patricia Louise Cagg; his parents; a sister, IvaSharon Cagg; and a brother, George Cagg.

Survivors include two sons, Kevin (Kris) Cagg, St. Joseph, and Brett (Nikki) Cagg, Wayne Nebraska; grandson, Nathan (Sarah) Cagg, St. Joseph; great- grandsons, Benjamin and Eric Cagg; and a brother, Richard Cagg ,of St. Joseph.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at the Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Douglas Cline officiating. The Interment will be at the Maple Grove Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Missouri Funeral Honors program.
