Tracking a rainy & cooler start to the workweek

We’re starting the workweek on a wet note as showers move through northwestern Missouri and northeastern Kansas this morning and into the early afternoon. The primary driver behind today’s rain is a cold front, which will usher in cooler and more seasonable conditions for the first part of the week.

Temperatures are on the warmer side to start the day, but as the rain continues and the front moves through, we’ll see a gradual cooldown. Highs today will top out around 73 degrees—right on par with the seasonal average of 72 degrees.

Rain is expected to become more scattered later this evening and could linger overnight into early Tuesday. By Tuesday morning, most of the precipitation should wrap up, but the cooler air will settle in behind the front. Highs on Tuesday will struggle to reach 66 degrees, giving the area a very fall-like feel.

The cooling trend continues into Wednesday, with highs near 71 degrees and morning lows dipping into the mid-40s.

However, this taste of fall will be short-lived. Temperatures will slowly begin to warm up through the remainder of the week, reaching the low 80s by Friday. By Sunday, we could once again see highs in the mid-80s.
