Tracking a warm and dry start to October

Good morning, St. Joseph. It’s a warm start to the first day of October, with temperatures running about 10 degrees above average for this time of year.

Cloud cover will linger through the morning, but skies will clear as the sun rises. Expect a high near 86 degrees this afternoon, with sunshine peaking out around lunchtime.

Overnight temperatures will offer little relief, dipping only into the mid to upper 60s. Above-average temperatures are expected to continue through the end of the workweek, with highs climbing into the upper 80s and possibly reaching 90 by Friday. Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny.

A gradual cooldown begins this weekend. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will drop into the low to mid-80s, bringing some relief from the heat.

Rain chances return Sunday night, though any precipitation is expected to be minimal due to dry air in the region. As we head into next week, temperatures will become more seasonable and fall-like, with highs in the mid to upper 70s on Monday and Tuesday.

Slight rain chances will linger into early next week but are expected to remain isolated.
