Cook, Evelyn H. 1939-2025 St. Joseph, Mo.

Evelyn H. Cook, 85, of St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at Mosaic Life Care, in St. Joseph. Evelyn was born Nov. 4, 1939, in St. Joseph, to Melvin and Velma (Perman) Amos.

On March 9, 1957, she married Frank Cook, in St. Joseph. Evelyn made the most of her time spending it with her family and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and an avid KC Chiefs fan. She also cherished her friends in the St. Charles Place community.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; daughter, Sue Ann LaFave; brothers, Melvin Jr., Billy, Woody, Baldy, Eddie, Dennis, and Ronnie Amos; sisters, Rosalie Ballard, Juanita Timmons, Velma Wilfong and infant sisters, Dorothy and Patricia Amos; and granddaughter, Stevie Ann Cook.

She is survived by her son, Frank Cook Jr. (Carla), of Parkville, Missouri; brother, Leonard Amos, of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Ashley Kinney, Ryan LaFave and Memphis Cook; great-grandsons, Camron Parks and Kaden Kinney; her dear friend Pam Pinkerton Gagnon; and numerous nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great nephews.

Ms. Cook has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, at Rupp Funeral Home where family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Pastor Rob Diamond officiating. Memorials are requested to be made to Second Harvest Food Bank.
