Kansas City Royals’ Alex Gordon hits a two-run double off Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi during the first inning at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., on Thursday.

Alex Gordon will return to the Kansas City Royals for his 14th season, the club officially announced Wednesday morning.

Gordon and the Royals have agreed to a one-year, $4 million deal to rejoin the club in 2020. According to MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan, Gordon has waived his no-trade rights, but he would receive a $500,000 assignment bonus if dealt to another club.

Gordon, 35, hit .266 in 2019 with 13 home runs and 76 RBIs, his highest RBI total since 2013.

Gordon also won his seventh Gold Glove Award in 2019. He has made three All-Star Games, and in 2014 he won the American League Platinum Glove Award as the best defensive outfielder.

The club designated pitcher Heath Fillmyer for assignment as a corresponding roster move.

Gordon is expected to discuss his return when Royals FanFest commences in Kansas City this weekend.
