Spencer Stewart lead Platte County with 297 yards in passing. he Connected with Dylan Gilbert nine times for 193 yards. The Pirates move on to take on Excelsior Springs Nov. 2.

The Atchison Redmen got shut out of the first half to open the Division 4-A playoffs on Friday and never recovered despite flashes of hope as the game drew to a close.

AHS lost 40-12 on the road in Fort Scott. The Tigers controlled both sides of the ball for most of the night, capitalizing on turnovers and shrugging off rare setbacks.

The Tigers, 7-2, are headed to the next round against the Basehor-Linwood Bobcats in Basehor. The Redmen have concluded a 4-5 season.
