After rolling St. Charles in the opening round of the Lebanon Lady’s Classic, the Benton girls basketball team found its match on Friday.

Parkway North fended off Benton for a 57-55 win in the semifinals of the Mid Missouri Bank I-44 tournament on Friday in LeBanon, Missouri.

In what was a slugfest throughout, Parkway North consistently kept its lead intact. A 14-7 lead after one grew to 25-19 at the half.

Benton (14-2) cut the deficit to four at 36-32 and pulled within two in the final 20 seconds before Parkway North (13-3) sank a pair of free throws with 11 seconds left.

Benton will play Lebanon in the third-place game at 2 p.m.

Benton boys 67, Hillcrest 58

Benton raced out to a double-digit halftime lead and never looked back as it rolled to a 67-58 lead in the consolation bracket of the 84th Liberator Tournament on Friday in Lebanon, Missouri.

Behind seven early points from Chol Ater, the Cardinals jumped out to a 16-10 lead and led 32-19 at the half.

The lead grew to 46-32 after three quarters. Chol Ater finished with 25 points.

Benton will face Branson at 11:30 a.m. today for fifth place.

Bishop LeBlond boys 41

Excelsior Springs 25

The Bishop LeBlond boys kept Excelsior Springs’ winless season in tact with a dominating 41-25 win Friday in the consolation bracket of the Cameron Tournament on Friday in Cameron, Missouri.

Bishop LeBlond held Excelsior to just three points in the first quarter and led 19-9 at the half.

The lead grew to 25-17 after three quarters as LeBlond put together its best offensive quarter to close out the game.

LeBlond will play for fifth place today.

Lafayette County girls 54

Bishop LeBlond 48

A late comeback attempt came up just short as the LeBlond girls lost 54-48 to Lafayette County in the consolation bracket of the Cameron Tournament on Friday in Cameron, Missouri.

The Golden Eagles will play today for seventh place.

Juliann Smith and Olivia Elliot scored 12 points apiece for LeBlond, who scored 21 points in the fourth quarter.

LeBlond (2-16) was outdone by 23 points from Rachel Ramsey and 13 from Sadie Kumm.
