Platte Valley is known first for its basketball, then softball, and finally baseball. But for the first time in nearly a decade, the Platte Valley football program enters the season as one of the state’s top teams and favorites to win the 275 Conference.

“They have confidence, and they know what they can do and what they’re capable of,” Platte Valley coach Johnnie Silkett said. “But they also know what can happen to them because there is some recent memory with our juniors and seniors about what can happen if they don’t do what they need to do.
