News and Notes from Tuesday's Media Luncheon
- The Northwest volleyball is one of five MIAA teams undefeated after a 4-0 start at the Lindenwood Volleyball Classic. Sophomore Maddy Bruder -- a sophomore from Firth, Nebraska -- had 64 kills and 39 digs in the four games and landed on the all-tournament team. The Bearcats host East Central and Minnesota State on Friday and then Oklahoma Baptist and Rockhurst on Saturday.
- Northwest men's cross country team won the Bearcat Open team title last Friday, while Nolan Zimmer, Braden Clews-Proctor and Zac Miller -- a Central graduate -- placed 1-2-3. The women's team placed second and Sammy Laurenzo placed second overall.
- The women's soccer team opens the season today in Kansas City playing Rockhurst. The Bearcats play at home Friday (Minnesota-Crookston) and Sunday (Sioux Falls).
- Mauro Tete captured the B-Draw singles and C-Draw doubles title for the men's team at the Emporia State Chicken Dinner Tournament. Tania Teruel accomplished same feat on the women's side, winning the B-Draw singles and B-Draw doubles. The teams will compete at the Drury Tournament in Springfield on Sunday.
