Missouri Western receiver Carlos Thompson announced he will forego his senior season to prepare for the NFL.

Missouri Western senior wide receiver Carlos Thompson will skip his senior season and prepare for the NFL, he announced via a Twitter message Thursday.

“I want to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity, and also the coaches I have had for the opportunities they’ve given me,” Thompson said via his Twitter account. “I also want to thank the great support system that I have around me, my family, friends and many teammates that have helped me reach this point. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.”

Thompson ranked third at Missouri Western with 17 receptions and 261 yards receiving in 2018. He also returned 10 punts for 183 yards and led the team with 14 kickoff returns for 240 yards. His highlight of the year came on a 72-yard touchdown reception against Northeastern State.

Thompson missed the season opener due to eligibility concerns after his transfer from Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas.

Thompson began his college career at Texas Tech before eventually transferring to Independence and becoming one of the stars of the Netflix series “Last Chance U.”
