Missouri Western senior forward Lavon Hightower follows through on a made 3-pointer during Saturday’s game against Upper Iowa in the Hillyard Tip-Off Classic at Civic Arena.

Missouri Western grad and former All-MIAA forward Lavon Hightower has signed with Germany Pro A Bundesliga side Schalke 04, the team announced Sunday.

“I’ve been looking for a player that brings greatness and athleticism, but is also a good launcher,” head coach Rapheal Wilder said in a release. “With Lavon, we have found a player who meets our requirements faster than expected. He was the “go-to-guy” at college and I am pleased that he joins us at such a short notice.”

Hightower averaged 18.7 points and 7.7 rebounds, earning second team All-MIAA status in his senior season.

He scored in double figures in 27 of the team’s 30 games, setting a single-season record with 231 rebounds. Hightower was also one of just three MIAA players to rank in the top 10 in points and rebounds in the league.
