The Missouri Western women overcame a nine-point halftime deficit by scoring 27 points in the third quarter of a 74-67 win against Florida Southern on Saturday in the FairField Inn Thanksgiving Classic at MWSU Fieldhouse.
The Griffons (5-1) made 10 of 16 shots in the third and held the Mocs to 28% in the final quarter for the team’s fifth straight win.
Chris Wilson scored 16 of her 20 points in the second half, while Corbyn Cunningham chipped in 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Kylee Williams (14) and Mychaell Gray (10) added another 25 points.
The Griffons shot 51% for the game and will open MIAA play Thursday at Central Missouri.

The Griffons dropped their second straight game by two possessions or less after an overtime defeat in the opening game of the Holiday Inn Thanksgiving Classic in Grand Junction, Colorado, losing to Western Colorado 86-82 on Saturday.
The Griffons (3-5) scored 51 points after halftime, highlighted by Tyreel Carroll’s gane-tying layup in the final minute to end a 15-3 run, though Western Colorado scored the game’s final four points.
Tyus Millhollin set a new career-high for the second straight game, scoring 31 points with five 3-pointers. Carroll scored 28 points with seven assists, while Zach Anderson scored 10 with four blocks.
Western shot just 39% from the field and 10 of 35 from 3-point range while being outrebounded 50-29.
MIAA play will begin Thursday at Central Missouri.
McKendree women 77
Northwest 69, OT
Northwest came up short in a battle of the Bearcats after Mia Stillman’s free throw sent the battle at the Fairfield Inn Thanksgiving Classic to overtime Saturday at MWSU Fieldhouse.
Northwest (4-3) led 28-26 at the half but were outrebounded 46-26 and committed 27 fouls on the day. McKendree capitalized with 13 second-chance points and were outshot 38-11 at the free-throw line.
Kendey Eaton led Northwest with 23 points while Erka Schlosser added 14.
The Bearcats open their MIAA season Thursday at Lincoln.
