Garnett has best finish in over two months

By Jacob Meikel
Former Missouri Western Griffon Brice Garnett finished the John Deere Classic strong, tying for 34th on the leaderboard by tournament’s end.
Garnett went into the final round on Sunday tied for 62nd and near the bottom of the leaderboard of players who made the weekend cut. The Gallatin, Missouri, native dug deep for his last round of play by posting a 65 in Silvis, Illinois, for -6. His strong finish saw Garnett jump 28 spots on the leaderboard, the biggest jump of any player on Sunday.
Making the cut was the biggest hurdle Garnett has had to get over, as he failed to make the cut in his last two tournaments. When he finally got his chance this past weekend, he did not take it for granted. In fact, the finish in the John Deere Classic became quite lucrative. His finish earned him $39,200 in winnings.
The jump up on the leaderboard was also Garnett’s best finish in a tournament since his tied-for-11th finish in the Zurich Classic back in late April, finishing at -20. The 40-year-old Garnett currently ranks 79th on the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup.
