Good riddance

I read about Democrats not giving President Donald Trump any respect for killing the ISIS leader, but we gave all the credit to former President Barack Obama (when Osama bin Laden was killed). The Republicans said Obama didn’t have anything to do with it; the military did. We feel the same way about the ISIS leader. Well, I’m a liberal, but I could care less what party is in office when these two (terrorists) got shot. We’re glad to be rid of them.

Hypocrisy

I’m calling about the dogfighting editorial. You don’t see the hypocrisy in this editorial? In a society that eats pigs, cows and chickens? Lewis and Clark ate dogs.

Editor’s note: We’re also against pigs, cows and chickens fighting for sport.

King of debt

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has anointed Mr. Trump as an imperial president by saying he will not bring anything to the floor for a vote in the Senate unless the president agrees to sign it. If re-elected, the national debt — at $22 trillion now and increasing at $1 trillion a year for the next nine years — we will face national bankruptcy.

Road to nowhere

I’m making a comment about the county CIP tax we’re going to vote on. Why should we give them more money? They already built an exit to nowhere off U.S. Highway 36 to the tune of $5 million. Totally irresponsible. Then they pave the road for private people off of that exit. It’s all a special interest group that they’re supporting.

They said it

I saw something really good on the Weather Channel last night. It said if there’s going to be ice and snow, you can put a pair of socks on your windshield wipers so they don’t get iced up. And you can put bags on your rearview mirrors to keep them clean, and you can coat your windshield with either a raw potato or a slice of onion. Isn’t that amazing? Since they said it, it’s got to be right.

Far and wide

It’s ridiculous for Sen. Josh Hawley to say the impeachment inquiry has strayed from standards. No president has ever strayed from standards more than Trump. He ignores subpoenas; he enriches himself with his position; he believes Russian President Vladimir Putin, not our own government.

Been there

Sadly, the News-Press is chastising the Democrats for their investigative committee requirements. Those are the same ones that the Republican Congress, under John Boehner, adopted during the investigation of Benghazi.

If, in 2011, there was proof that President Obama told the President of Croatia to dig up dirt on Mitt Romney, and if Obama actually held up US military aid until Croatia agreed to dig up the dirt, every Republican in the House would have voted to open impeachment proceedings.

The Gainer

How would you know how Republicans would vote?

aj0201

Cmon, even the most ardent of you Trumpers have to admit the “Soviet style impeachment” nonsense from Steve Scalise was ridiculous.

As the hearing continues to determine the fate of the St. Louis Planned Parenthood, consider this:

Roe v Wade was ruled before ultrasounds reached America.

We now know children in the womb suck their thumbs. Feel pain. Feel joy. Respond to light. Develop food preferences. Recognize their mother's voice.

It's time for our laws to reflect modern science.

jdw64485

Just to put it in simple terms. The pro choice gang is scare of modern science. It will and has proved the wrong. Modern science has proven it's a real life baby growing in the mothers womb.

Art Vandelay

LOL! Seriously?! I believe we all can agree the thing growing inside is just as alive as a chrysanthemum, an oak tree or a strain of E-Coli or cancer. That does not make it a human "baby". Please stop repeating the lies fed to you by penelope and, I'm assuming, your fallible pastor.

jdw64485

Nope Penelope nor my pastor has lied in anyway. Their not telling me it's a real life baby. My Bible tells me it a real child. So, what's telling you it's not a real baby. Don't just say a science book. I've look at science books here. I've googled it. So, point me to a science book here on the internet which can be check. When the battery on my phone is charged. I'll come back and give you information where I found my information

Art Vandelay

Also, please include the place in the Bible that states a fetus in a woman's womb is an actual child. Interesting how you jumped from infancy to childhood. Next you'll be claiming a fetus is ready for high school.

jdw64485

What a surprise Art Vandelay disappears. He can't backup his comment. I've have mine ready to post. But Art open the door. He can't prove it's not a real life baby.

jdw64485

The word fetus is not in the bible

Check the king James version Luke chapter 1 verse 41. There's more but you can find them yourself Now show me the science book which says it's not a real life baby.

jdw64485

Art, You can also look at Luke chapter 1 verse 44. Okay I've gave you two. Now you point me to a science book that says it's not a baby. Oh gosh you can't. I know it's refer to as a fetus but even at that it's still alive

Art Vandelay

You are the one screaming that scientists consider fetuses human babies. The onus is yours. Regarding the Bible, it has no place in this debate. We are not a theocracy. Just because your religion believes anything has no bearing in what courts decide. PS. There are so many versions of the Bible and it has been rewritten often to better align with the beliefs of those who wrote them. I doubt the word "baby" existed when the pals of Jesus wrote the original.

jdw64485

I see no reason to continue any conversation with you. You ask me to show you where the Bible said it was a baby in the mothers womb. I did that. You did the old twisting of what I said. Did you even bother to read the verses I gave you. I ask you to show me the science book which says it's not baby. You haven't because you can't. So, back up what you say or shut up.

Good riddance---The riddance of both bin laden and al-bagdadhi is a service to humanity. Credit primarily goes to those who carried out the mission, and both presidents deserve credit for authorizing the mission. This is beyond political prejudice.

beelog

Voters are quite aware that the House is conducting an extremely important inquiry behind closed doors, secret from the public, shackling the voices of Republicans by Schiff's denying the right to ask certain questions and "coaching" witnesses. He is a disgrace to the nation. The people have a right to view this serious process. The secrecy indicates there is something to hide. If everything is "clear cut" as Pelosi and Schiff claim, there is no reason to hide behind closed doors. The voters will remember this and it will work to Trump's advantage in 2020---and he will be the sitting president and the candidate.

beelog

Let's see, Democrats want to fine legal citizens for not buying expensive health insurance, but have no problem with giving it to illegal immigrants for free. Does that make any sense?

beelog

Far and wide----Silliness. Trump has strayed far less than your false-hero Obama. He has improved the quality of life for millions by providing jobs, he is working to keep the violent gang members from crossing our border. He has done more for minorities in 3 years than Obama did in 8. He has removed onerous regulations on business which restricted jobs. He has greatly helped union members by bring back jobs to America that had previously gone overseas. The Stock Market is booming which really helps our 401k programs. Let's face it, you only dislike him because he, as a political novice, defeated Hillary.

aj0201

What has he done for minorities?

James Bond1

He sure has jobs for a lot of them...………...well, for the ones who are willing to work.

aj0201

Obama created more jobs than he has for minorities.

This whole sham is a Democrat led witch hunt, offering only one side of the case and preventing cross-examination. This is un-American, unfair, and a black-eye to the nation.

"I'm the king of debt. I love debt," Trump told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Wednesday, seemingly trying to explain the comfort level he has with debt after a long business career that included four bankruptcy filings by his companies”

Makes sense given that he is taking this country further into debt and at a record pace in what is supposedly a “booming economy” (1.9% GDP)

MartyWinger, care to share what part of the federal code Mueller would be charged with for your ridiculous claim of criminal conflict of interest?

Marty_Chuzzlewit

Lying to Congress while under oath to tell the truth in addition to the flagrant conflict of interest he had in serving as special counsel.

aj0201

So the answer is “no.” That’s all you had to say...

Colo

MartyWinger is grasping & desperate. His lame attempts to defend the Liar in Chief have apparently distorted his reality

Marty_Chuzzlewit

Aside from your childish attempts at defamation of the President, he doesn't need my help in defending his record…..he hasn't done anything wrong

aj0201

He broke his oath of office.

Marty_Chuzzlewit

That is an opinion you are certainly free to entertain, maybe it will be one charge the House makes should it foolishly send articles of impeachment to the Senate for trial. Only after that trial, if it even occurs, will guilt or innocence be established. Until then, your opinions are just that, opinions. However, the fact that the politically-biased Mueller committee spent over 24 years of lawyer man-hours and over 80 years of FBI man-hours and failed to establish any guilt on the part of the President, that fact has to be taken into sober consideration.

aj0201

The Mueller report makes clear, Trump's "efforts to influence the investigation were mostly unsuccessful" — but only "largely because the persons who surrounded the President declined to carry out orders or accede to his requests."

The federal statute says anyone who “endeavors to” obstruct has obstructed.

“Efforts to” and “endeavors to” are synonymous.

Trump obstructed justice.

Marty_Chuzzlewit

Not even the House Democrats in their desperate attempt to nullify the 2016 presidential election are going down the dead-end path of "obstruction of justice'" in their Acme catalog of "impeachment inquiry" articles being debated as this is written.

beelog

Exactly, but don't expect any support from those who "drank the Kool-Aid".

aj0201

Why would they when the republicans are ignoring the law? The POT has zero desire to remove their king from office for the simple reason is that they’d have to admit they were wrong. Nothing more.

mywagginisdraggin

oh boyyyy .at 9:27 aj said POT..no way, it's too early for me..OOPS

JohnQTaxpayer

Before the current fake 'scandal' proves false, the Demoncrats will fabricate a new one, with vaj, munchman, & Colo providing lip-service to the newest lies... [whistling]

beelog

The president is, and has always been, a target for the Left. They cried and whimpered when they lost the 2016 election, then they got angry. They refuse to vent their anger at the ballot box, which is what sane people do. They "claim" the transcript was sufficient proof (not true) so why don't they move forward in the open? What are they trying to hide. Republican House members in attendance are reporting that it is nothing but a sham. Dumbocrats will meekly follow the Party line---then we can go to the Senate and find the truth.

aj0201

Whoa, wait. Last week there were no republicans in attendance, right WrightMarty? They were being excluded and stormed the castle. Turns out you’re saying they stormed a castle they already occupy? 🤣.

Consider this. Trumps own people are coming forward. Not one of them has said in sworn statements that the concern in Ukraine was Biden but that THEY had concerns over the call and what it would mean for our foreign policy. They’ve confirmed a quid pro quo which isn’t necessary anyway.

Also, by encouraging Ukraine and China to investigate a citizen, Trump broke his oath of office.

Marty_Chuzzlewit

There is certainly prima facie evidence of corruption, election tampering and money laundering crimes committed by Americans operating in foreign lands. Asking for cooperation in an investigation of these crimes hardly violates the oath of office.

aj0201

It absolutely violates his oath and obviously so. Sad that you can’t grasp why.

Marty_Chuzzlewit

Seems to me it enhances the President's duty "to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

aj0201

Hmmmm. What constitutional protections are afforded you when China is investigating you?

Marty_Chuzzlewit

That's why (in your theoretical example) China would ask for American cooperation in conducting such an investigation, thus assuring Constitutional rights are observed. These agreements between nation states are not uncommon, just that negotiations are usually conducted at a level below head of state. An American citizen "walked" out of China with a billion dollars in hand. Shouldn't we find out why, what did China receive for handing over the billion? Influence? We need to know.

James Bond1

aj…….………..you keep saying broke his "oath of office"...……...what is your interpretation of what.

James Bond1

It's sad you won't explain your remarks that don't seem to make much sense.

aj0201

Really?? China WOULD ask for assistance when investigating one of our citizens? Because they have proven so trustworthy?? And the guarantee that they would do that? Goodness, don’t be so naive.

aj0201

Uhhh, James. What guarantees do you have from China that protects you as a citizen of the US? If, in the course of their investigation they decide to tap your phone, what then? Or they electronically go through your bank account, what then? Are you going to take them to court and say they violated your 4th amendment rights? And what if they decide you’ve broken one of their laws and they decide to arrest you? You think you have Miranda rights? Speedy trial? By encouraging a foreign country to investigate a citizen of this country, he is abdicating any claims to be protecting the Constitution of this nation. Our Constitution protects us from our government, not China.

aj0201

well let’s assume that Hunter Biden did in fact “walk out” of China with $1 billion. Where’s the crime? Has China made a claim against Biden? No. So what remains is whether or not Biden broke US law. That isn’t an issue for the Chinese to investigate. Same with Ukraine. And if he did break chinese law, that’s for them to investigate and should not be proposed by the US President during a press conference. By encouraging them to investigate where there is not only no evidence of criminality but plenty to show nothing wrong happened, Trump is exposing a citizen to an investigation where the citizen has no constitutional protections.

Marty_Chuzzlewit

The "citizen" resides IN the United States. None of his Constitutional rights would be threatened by an investigation IN China by Chinese officials of a highly questionable transaction that stinks to high heaven of influence peddling by an American politician. We have a right to know why the Chinese threw a billion dollars in the lap of that politician's drug addicted son.

Marty_Chuzzlewit

In December 2013, Hunter landed in Beijing aboard Air Force Two, accompanying his father on an official visit to China. Less than two weeks later, Hunter’s company, Rosemont Seneca, became a partner in a new investment company backed by the state-owned Bank of China. Christening the new firm Bohai Harvest RST (BHR), the partners set out to raise $1 billion for the new fund. Hunter used the opportunity to introduce his father to Chinese private equity executive Jonathan Li, who became CEO of BHR after the deal’s conclusion. The company’s website now brags that it manages “over RMB 15 billion” in assets — the equivalent of about $2.1 billion in today’s dollars. Under the terms of the deal, BHR, in which Hunter’s firm held an equity stake, would be a lead investor in the fund. Other investors include China Development Bank and China’s social security fund. Despite his relative lack of private equity experience, Hunter landed a prominent role with the new company.

aj0201

You don’t think Chinese hackers can get into a bank account IN the US while sitting IN China? You don’t think the Chinese have investigators IN the US despite the fact that their home May be IN China?

Again, the Chinese have made no complaint of wrong doing. Nor have the Ukrainians. Trump is the only one concerned about what the Bidens are doing. Why? Well, an election coming up may be one clue. And again, IF Hunter Biden broke US law them the fbi should investigate, not the Chinese.

Marty_Chuzzlewit

Of course, and it would be perfectly understandable for the FBI to ask for Chinese cooperation in such an investigation. The Chinese might well have concerns about their social security funds being entrusted to management by a person with a history of drug-induced periods of blackouts.

aj0201

That might be. But that’s not what happened. He encouraged the Chines and the Ukrainians to investigate on their own, thus breaking his oath.

Marty_Chuzzlewit

It would, of course, be only logical to ask the parent country to have their role in an investigation involving citizens of their nation. That wouldn't preclude and would in fact probably necessitate sharing of information between officials of both countries. That is NO violation of any oath of office.

aj0201

But that’s not what he did.
