Northwest Missouri State men’s basketball has finalized its 2016-17 schedule.
Bearcats coach Ben McCollum announced the schedule Wednesday and the three-time defending MIAA regular season champions will get an additional boost at home this year. Northwest will host 15 games at Bearcat Arena, where the team posted a perfect 13-0 mark last year.
The eight-game non-conference schedule begins in St. Joseph on Friday, Nov. 11 against NSIC foe Upper Iowa. Two days later, Northwest will face Wayne State College on Sunday, Nov. 13.
The Bearcats' home opener comes at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, against defending NCAA Division II champions Augustana. After a trip to Denver to face Metro State, Northwest will play a pair of home games against Lake Superior State (Nov. 23) and Concordia-St. Paul (Nov. 26). The other two non-conference games for the Bearcats will be on Tuesday, Dec. 13, against Missouri Valley College and on Dec. 31 against Simpson College.
Northwest will host 10 MIAA contests starting on Monday, Dec. 5, against Missouri Western. On Dec. 10, the Bearcats host Central Missouri. After the holiday break, Northwest will play home games against Missouri Southern (Jan. 5), Pittsburg State (Jan. 7), Nebraska-Kearney (Jan. 19), Fort Hays State (Jan. 21), Emporia State (Feb. 9), Washburn (Feb. 11), Lindenwood (Feb. 23) and Lincoln (Feb. 25).
