The St. Joseph Mustangs announced their schedule for the 2015 season on Wednesday, with opening day a little more than six months away.
The reigning MINK League champions will open the season on May 27, 2015, with a showdown with the Spooner (Wis.) Bandits. The opening game will start a four-game home stand at Phil Welch Stadium, which features the MINK opener against Clarinda on May 29.
Notable changes to the slate this season include the exodus of the Omaha Diamond Spirits from the league and Sedalia moving to the North Division to fill that opening. The Mustangs will host the Mustangs Alumni game on June 13 and the Ban Johnson All-Stars on July 3.
The first-ever MINK League All-Star game and Home Run Derby is scheduled for July 8 at Phil Welch Stadium
“We’re ready for baseball to return to Phil Welch,” Mustangs general manager Ky Turner said. “The momentum the team has for 2015 is like I’ve never seen before. Coming off our league championship and top national attendance rankings, St. Joseph has been established nationally as a premier destination for college baseball players.
“These players love to come to St. Joseph and play in front of our spectacular fans. I know manager Matt Johnson is excited about the roster for this summer and we fully expect to contend for another championship.”
The Mustangs 2015 roster and promotional schedule will be released in the upcoming months.
