SHENANDOAH, Iowa -Russell C. "Sonny" Gordon, 87, passed away on Sept. 4, 2019, at his Shenandoah home.
He was born Dec. 13, 1931, on a farm near Forest City, Missouri.
Sonny graduated from Forest City High School in 1949.
After graduation he worked in the Gordon Quarry, and then continued his education learning electronics at Northwest Missouri State, in Maryville, Missouri .
He was working in Savannah, Missouri, at Breit Quarry, when he met Doris Jean Hayward. They married in Bentonville, Arkansas, on May 19, 1952.
Sonny worked as a computer technician for Univac, traveling to various places in the United States and around the world.
In 1972, he acquired Shenandoah Ceramic Supply, in Shenandoah.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Howard R. and Helen A. (Bursha) Gordon; sister, Patricia Rogerson; an infant son, Russell; and one infant granddaughter, Erin Joy Falk.
Survivors include: his wife, Doris, of their Shenandoah home; brother, Mart (Bonnie) Gordon, Forest City; sister, Shirley Gordon, Forest City; children, Dave (Toshie) Gordon, of Shenandoah, Thomas (Susan) Gordon, of Tucson, Arizona, Richard (Tanya) Gordon, of Lake Forest, California, Karen (Bodie) Falk, of Shenandoah, and Gary Gordon, of Sammamish, Washington; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, Missouri.
Family will greet friends one hour prior to services.
Interment: Forest City Union Cemetery.
