Omaha, Neb. - Terry Lynne Gomel, 70, passed away on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, while residing in Mound City, Missouri.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1948, in Omaha, the daughter of Vernon Clay Gomel and Madeliene (Dunfee) Gomel.
She is the granddaughter to Hazel and Frank Gomel, of Craig, Missouri, and Suzie and C. C. Dunfee Sr., of Fairfax, Missouri.
She had been married to James Lowell Adkins, of Omaha, in 1972, but divorced in 1981.
Terry was raised in various locations within the greater Northwest Missouri area, ranging between Tarkio, Bethany and Maryville.
As a high school student, in Maryville, Terry was a part of multiple activities and organizations.
She played flute, was a cheerleader and eventually came up with part of the original costume for the treasured Spoof Hound Mascot.
Terry graduated from Maryville High School in 1966.
After high school, Terry went on to complete beauty school, in St. Joseph.
Once a licensed beautician, she went on to enter multiple competitions. She eventually won four different titles for hair and makeup design.
During this time, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she eventually met her husband and raised her daughter.
Over the course of her career, she gradually moved from cosmetology and entered the grocery store business.
She worked for multiple companies throughout the Kansas City Area, including A&P Grocers, Sun Fresh Markets, Foodland Markets and Schnucks, throughout the 80s and 90s.
Once retired, Terry moved back to Northwest Missouri, where she resided until her passing.
She loved family, reading, crafts, music, news and politics.
She kept up with world events and supported many charities including, St. Jude and the American Cancer Society.
Her favorite color was purple, was an amazing cook/baker and could not stand animal cruelty.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by: her Aunt Iona (Gomel) and Uncle Richard White, of Craig.
Terry is survived by: her father, V. Clay Gomel, of Warsaw, Missouri; daughter and son-in-law, Christlanda Adkins and Bryan Walker, of Florissant, Missouri; cousins, Joe and Vicki White, of Craig, along with Roxanne (White) and Kim Bodwell, of Rockport, Illinois.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Tharp Cemetery, in Craig.
Arrangements are being handled by Schooler Funeral Home, of Fairfax.
