Glenn Dale Burris, 77, St. Joseph, went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.
He was born on April 10, 1937, in Rothville, Mo., to Lavon Dale and Juanita (Bieber) Burris at the home of his grandmother.
Glenn married his high school sweetheart, Betty Cady, on August 9, 1959, in Brookfield, Mo. They celebrated 55 years of marriage together. She survives of the home.
Glenn graduated from Brookfield High School in 1956, where he was a star football player and Golden Glove Boxer. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He and Betty enjoyed camping and socializing with their extended family at the Eagles Lodge. He loved family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Glenn was a conductor on the Burlington Northern Railroad for 43 years until his retirement on April of 1999, where he received numerous awards for his safety record and service. He was an active member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 49, St. Joseph, where he served as Vice President and Trustee for numerous years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lavon Dale Burris (August 1991) and Juanita May (Bieber) Burris (November 1987); and one brother, Lavon Wesley Burris (April 1982).
Survivors include: his beloved wife, Betty, of the home; daughters, Karen (Don) Lawrence, St. Joseph, and Beth (Scott) Haeker of Helena, Mo.
Also surviving are: four grandchildren, Donnie (Ashli) Lawrence, Melissa Lawrence, Andrew Haeker, and Caitlin Haeker; and two great-grandchildren, Lila Lawrence, and Lauden Lawrence; numerous nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.
Farewell Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will gather with friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts to Eagles Aerie 49, St. Joseph, or St. Peter Lutheran Church.
