Colhou, Judith A. 1942-2019

MAYSVILLE, Mo. - Judith (Judy) Ann Chaney Colhour, age 76, was born Nov. 19, 1942, to Lena Gross Chaney and Curtis Jewell Chaney, in Kansas City, Missouri.

She was raised by her maternal aunt, Beulah Thomas, and husband, Bob, in Brunswick, Missouri.

Judy graduated from high school as salutatorian of her class, in 1960. In high school, she was active in Pep Club, Band, Glee Club and Future Teachers of America.

She went on to college that fall to what is now known as the University of Central Missouri, in Warrensburg. She was a charter member of the Delta Pi chapter of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was named the Outstanding Biology Student when she graduated, in Aug. of 1963. She earned a masters in secondary education, from Northwest Missouri State University, in Maryville, in science education.

Judy taught biology and chemistry courses, either full-time or part-time, for over 30 years. Most of her teaching career was spent in Maysville, Missouri.

Reading, embroidery, and stamp collecting were hobbies of a lifetime. She served on the DeKalb County Library Board and volunteered there many hours. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Tonya Ann Colhour.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Wayne I. Colhour.

She is also survived by: daughter, Denise Colhour; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Heather Colhour, and their children: Jesse Colhour (U.S.A.F), Emilee Colhour, Catharine Whiteman and Emily Whiteman.

Cremation under direction of Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 21, 2019, at Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville, with inurnment following, at Stewartsville Cemetery.

No visitation is Scheduled.
