Ermit C. Buhman, 90, St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Living Community of St. Joseph.
Ermit was born on March 4, 1924, in Clarksdale, Mo., to the late Oscar and Emma (Fisher) Buhman. He was a graduate of Clarksdale High School.
Mr. Buhman served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1944-1946.
Ermit farmed in Clarksdale and worked at Swifts Packing and as a rural postal carrier. He was a member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of St. Joseph, as well as a member of the American Legion Post #508 and the Clarksdale Lions Club.
Ermit married Catherine Karl on April 21, 1947; she preceded him in death in 1976. Mr. Buhman was also preceded in death by his siblings, Verda McManus, Vincent, Melvin, Kenneth and Fr. Leo Buhman.
Survivors include children, Margaret Mallen, Columbia, Mo.; Kenneth (Carol) Buhman, St. Joseph; Larry (Marcia) Buhman, Stewartsville, Mo.; Jeanette (David) Brown, Columbia; Gayle (Michele) Buhman, Amity, Mo.; and Chris (Charlotte) Buhman, Savannah, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Irmalee Schieber, Rita McQuinn, Johnnie, Harold, Gilbert, Earl “Bud” and Jim Buhman.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Seven Dolors Catholic Church. Interment: St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hurlingen, Mo.
Visitation will be held after 12 p.m. Monday, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel.
Rosary: 6 p.m. Monday, at our chapel, where the family will receive friends following the Rosary until 8:30 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to Missouri Veterans Home of Cameron or St. Francis Xavier Catholic School of St. Joseph.
