Columbia police respond to shots fired on Bethel Church Road.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police confirmed shots were fired in south Columbia early Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to Bethel Church Road shortly before 5:30 a.m. At 5:41, Boone County Joint Communications sent out an alert that the street was closed between Old Plank Road and Nikki Way.

Police at the scene told ABC 17 News crews they found bullet fragments and shell casings in the area. There were no reports of injuries.

An officer said there is little suspect information at this time.

Police cleared the scene shortly after 6 a.m. Bethel Church Road is back open.
