JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services on Friday released dates and times for community COVID-19 testing events happening over the next 10 days.
The testing is part of Gov. Mike Parson's plan to reach 7,500 tests per day statewide. The goal is to test nearly 10,000 people over the next 10 days. Testing sites will be in Boone, Cape Girardeau, Greene, Jackson, Jefferson and St. Charles counties.
All sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Tuesday through Thursday, St. Charles County Public Health Department, St. Charles
- May 29-30, The Youth Activity Park, Dardenne Prairie
- June 1-2, Faith Community Church, House Springs
- June 1-2, Hickman High School, Columbia
- June 3, Hillsboro Civic Center, Hillsboro
- June 4-5, Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, Springfield
- June 5, Arena Park, Cape Girardeau
The only requirement to be tested at these sites is to be a Missouri resident. The test uses a nasal swab to see if the person has COVID-19. Testing will be free.
Community sampling is used to give state officials a better understanding of how prevalent the virus is in Missouri.
The department says online pre-registration is encouraged before going to one of these testing sites.
The communities were selected for testing based on the location's ability to draw people from around the areas and where local leaders have requested it, according to a news release. CARES Act funding will be used for the testing.
The events will be conducted by the state health department and the Missouri National Guard along with local public health departments.
