A St. Joseph man has been charged with sexual abuse after he allegedly assaulted a 13-year-old girl.

Sean Dale Ray Peden was charged with second-degree sexual abuse after his alleged victim told investigators that the 18-year-old had touched her in a sexual way while her mother was away at work. The incident allegedly occurred after a babysitter had left the residence.

Peden is curently being held at the Buchanan County Jail on a $10,000 hybrid bond and has been ordered to stay away from the residence, though court documents state that the man lived only a block away from the alleged victim.

Peden was on probation for a 2018 auto theft conviction when the alleged incident occurred.
