A three-year-old toddler was shot sometime before noon near the 1600 block of Beattie Street in St. Joseph.
Capt. Jeff Wilson, public information officer for the St. Joseph Police Department, confirmed the incident took place and that police are investigating.
He said police aren’t ready to release more details at this time, other than that the child was three years old.
A News-Press NOW reporter at the scene saw a person placed in handcuffs and then into a squad car. It’s unclear if the person in custody is related to the shooting. The condition of the child is unknown at this time.
As of 6:30 p.m. Saturday, police did not have any updates on the case.
