A 19-year-old has been charged in the July 11 death of 21-year-old Jaiden Drimmel.

Dylan Grippando of St. Joseph has been charged with second-degree murder after he allegedly shot Drimmel at 831 S. 23rd St. Police were called to the scene at about 5 p.m. July 11 after a witness saw Drimmell stumble out of the house and fall to the ground, appearing to be unresponsive.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, Drimmell was pronounced dead.

According to court documents, witnesses saw Grippando striking his alleged victim before retrieving a firearm and fatally shooting Drimmel.

The death was originally reported to be caused by a stabbing, but Prosecuting Attorney Ron Holiday confirmed that Drimmel was killed by a gunshot wound.

Grippando is being held on a $80,000 hybrid bond, and he could face 10 to 30 years in prison or a life sentence, should he be found guilty. He is scheduled for arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 18, before Judge Keith Marquart.

According to court records, Grippando was charged with unlawful use of a weapon in May. He pleaded guilty in that case and was sentenced to two years of supervised probation.
