The man killed on the 800 block of South 23rd Street on Thursday has been identified as 21-year-old Jaiden Drimmell.
Police were called to the scene around 5 p.m. Thursday after a witness saw Drimmell stumble out of the house and fall to the ground, appearing to be unresponsive.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, Drimmell was pronounced dead.
St. Joseph Police Department Cmdr. Eric Protzman said foul play is involved and officers are investigating the death as a homicide.
Police do not have anyone in custody related to Drimmell’s death. However, officials are looking for a white female, Danielle Lee Dakon, who is a person of interest in the investigation.
“We believe she was in the area and may have some information that will shed a lot of light on what took place, and what may have led up to this tragic incident yesterday afternoon,” Protzman said.
Witnesses nearby told police there was a car that left from the area at the time of the incident, but it’s still unknown at this time if the car is related to the case.
Protzman said it’s unknown if the home Drimmell was found at is somewhere that he lived or where he stayed from time to time.
“Detectives have been working around the clock since this incident occurred, trying to determine the who, what and why that may have led up to this,” Protzman said.
Police said anyone with information should call Detective Mull at 816-271-4622 or the Tips Hotline 816-238-TIPS (4877).
