A Nodaway County man was found guilty Wednesday of second-degree involuntary manslaughter for his role in a fatal crash last year.
According to information the Missouri State Highway Patrol released at the time of the wreck, Marlin Meyer, 72, of Ravenwood, Missouri, was driving a tractor that was pulling an anhydrous applicator that collided with a vehicle driven by Virginia Burns, 60, of Parnell, Missouri, on April 24, 2017.
A trooper at the scene said the farm equipment was not properly secured, which caused it to stretch across the road and resulted in the crash.
Burns was pronounced dead at the scene.
A jury announced its verdict following a trial in Atchison County. Meyer had been charged with first-degree involuntary manslaughter.
Meyer will return to court July 11 for sentencing.
