St. Joseph police are investigating multiple gunshots in midtown Thursday night.
Around 10:30 p.m., police received several calls of shots fired on Faraon Street between 25th and 22nd streets. Police closed off one of the westbound lanes to recover multiple shell casings from an unknown type of weapon.
One vehicle was hit with gunfire, but there were no reports of injuries. Police did not have suspect descriptions as of Friday morning.
Witnesses said it appeared there were two cars involved and the shots first rang out in the alley between Faraon and Jules streets near 25th Street.
"I was on 22nd & Jules, on the corner, and I heard multiple pop sounds like pop, pop, pop, pop, pop," one witness said.
The witness said the people in the vehicles were shooting at each other.
