Several accidents around town kept St. Joseph police busy Thursday.
A minor fender bender on Seventh Street near St. Joseph Avenue sent one person to the hospital Thursday morning.
According to a St. Joseph Police Department officer at the scene, a man received a traffic citation after his car made contact with a white sedan.
The female driver of the sedan was taken to the hospital by Buchanan County EMS. The officer said once he arrived on scene, the woman said she was shaken up and couldn’t get out of the car on her own. However, an extrication was not required.
In another accident, a worker with the city of St. Joseph was struck Thursday morning near Felix and North 10th streets.
According to Sgt. Chris McBane, the worker was taken to Mosaic Life Care with an ankle injury. A woman was cited for careless driving in that accident.
McBane said the woman took her eyes off the road to look at the project city employees were constructing, which is when her red Ford Focus struck the worker.
The worker’s condition was unknown.
A multi-vehicle accident caused a slowdown on the southbound Stockyards Expressway just before 2 p.m. Thursday. An ambulance and a St. Joseph Police Department officer were on the scene, with a dump-truck, tractor-trailer and black SUV pulled over on the shoulder. Traffic was forced to use only the left lane.
It is unknown if any injuries occurred in the accident, but the scene was clear of officers and EMS at around 2 p.m.
