JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — In response to flooding and the state of emergency declared by Gov. Mike Parson, the Missouri Department of Transportation will allow heavier-than-normal truckloads of rock, sand and gravel to travel over Missouri highways.
Officials said the allowance will help ensure that supplies can be transported to communities affected by the flood and enable repairs to infrastructure such as roads and levees.
The waiver will remain in effect through Sunday, April 21, and allow private and for-hire motor carriers to carry up to 10 percent more than their licensed weight on the state’s highways.
