A St. Joseph man who pleaded guilty in January to second-degree statutory sodomy involving a minor received probation Monday in the matter.

James F. Summers III, 48, had been charged with the offense in September 2018. Prosecutors stated he had sexual contact with a person who was under age 17 on multiple occasions at his residence between January and September 2018.

Judge David Bolander ordered Summers to serve four years’ probation after suspending execution of a five-year sentence in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Among his conditions, Summers must have no contact with any minor without an adult sponsor present and must not reside with minor children under 17 years old. He cannot be present at Missouri Western State University or its events, will not be allowed at Phil Welch Stadium and cannot attend any home or away St. Joseph Mustangs games.
