A St. Joseph man was found not guilty of rape Wednesday afternoon following a jury trial.

Roy Boatwright had been charged with first-degree rape in May of 2018 after he was accused of getting a 17-year-old girl drunk and raping her that March.

A jury heard about the night in question over a year later, when evidence was presented during a two-day trial. After an hour and 20 minutes of deliberation, the jury returned with a verdict of not guilty on Wednesday afternoon.
