A Union Star, Missouri, man is charged with second-degree assault and armed criminal action in a stabbing that happened Thursday morning in St. Joseph.
Devin Ray Silvey, 29, is set to be arraigned at 8:15 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, before Judge Rebecca Spencer at the Buchanan County Courthouse. He is being held at the Buchanan County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond in the case.
“Audio/video evidence showed Devin arriving in the area of 2400 El Tivoli Drive, entering their (unnamed victim’s) residence, victims returning home, a fight can be heard inside the residence and Devin is seen fleeing on foot,” a probable cause statement filed by a St. Joseph Police Department detective said.
St. Joseph police responded to the area of El Tivoli Drive at about 4:40 a.m. Thursday on a report of people fighting.
“When police entered the area they attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, which fled from officers at a high rate of speed,” the detective wrote in the probable cause statement.
Officers were flagged down near 22nd and Monterey streets to help someone in a car who had a stab wound. That 22-year-old male was transported to Mosaic Life Care to be treated for serious injuries.
Later Thursday, another person with a stab wound was transported to Mosaic from another jurisdiction. Police identified that 29-year-old male as the other person involved in the incident.
Both men were treated and released from Mosaic.
The detective wrote that he feels Silvey is a danger to the victim because he, “waited for the victim and witness to return, then attacked the victim with a large knife.”
