CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — A 22-year-old Livingston County woman was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when the truck she was driving was struck by a tractor-trailer unit.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Courtney A. Westcott, of Chula, Missouri, was taken by ambulance to Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe for treatment.

The patrol said the wreck happened at 1:15 p.m., on eastbound U.S. Highway 36 at Livingston County Road 255, four miles east of Chillicothe.

A 2007 Volvo tractor-trailer, driving by 41-year-old Cliffon A. Brown, of Forney, Texas, was eastbound in the passing lane of Highway 36 along with a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Westcott. The truck slowed to make a left turn onto the county road, with the tractor-trailer’s front center striking the truck in the rear. The tractor-trailer stopped on the highway’s south side, partially blocking the road. The truck landed in the median.
