Police issued a warning after flood waters forced the closing of one road in Chillicothe, Missouri.
Police said Third Street between Dickinson and Woodrow streets was closed due to 3 feet of water over the roadway. The Chillicothe Street Department has placed temporary barricades in the road.
Police said motorists should prepare for additional closures because of rain in the forecast.
The Grand River is falling at Chillicothe, after reaching 24.55 feet on Sunday. That’s about a half foot above minor flood stage.
In St. Joseph, the Missouri River was at 20.48 feet and expected to begin falling slowly during the week, according to the National Weather Service’s latest forecast.
