A vacant house was destroyed in an early-morning fire Wednesday on the South Side.

The cause remains undetermined, fire investigators said.

The St. Joseph Fire Department responded to the blaze at 5207 Swift Ave. shortly after 4 a.m. Firefighters said the house, which appeared to be for sale, was destroyed.

There were no injuries as firefighters worked to keep the blaze from spreading to nearby structures.
