Tuesday evening Republican Becky Dunlap won the seat of Recorder of Deeds for Buchanan County.

Dunlap won by 5,111 votes with 59 percent of the votes.

“I’m excited to start a new chapter in my life,” Dunlap said. “It’s very exciting to be a winner.”

The newcomer defeated incumbent Ed Wildberger who has held the office for nine years.

According to the Buchanan County Clerk’s office, Wildberger received 12,123 votes to Dunlap’s 17,234 votes.

Dunlap, who ran for office following her retirement from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, will step into her new role on Jan. 2. The Agency, Missouri, local said that she is excited to learn the ropes at the office and be there for her constituents.

“I’m going to make sure that I learn the job and meet my new employees,” Dunlap said. “I’ll just make sure I learn the job front to back and do the job that people elected me to do.”
