Authorities are looking for two suspects in separate hit-and-run accidents early Tuesday, including one involving a police vehicle.
The other hit-and-run accident sent a motorist to the hospital with what appeared to be serious injuries.
In the first accident, a police car was responding to another accident report when a pickup truck failed to yield near Mitchell Avenue and 30th Street. It happened at 1:15 a.m.
Sgt. Brett Kelley with the St. Joseph Police Department said the white Ford F-150 pulled in front of the police vehicle, caused the crash and fled the scene.
The officer was not injured, but the police vehicle sustained disabling damage and had to be towed. Kelley said police are looking for the white truck, which appeared to be a model from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
"It should have damage to the right, rear part of the bed," Kelley said.
The second accident occurred at roughly the same time at 2120 Alabama St. Police said two passenger cars sustained heavy damage in an accident.
The driver of one vehicle was transported to Mosaic Life Care with what appeared to be serious injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle fled the scene.
Anyone with information on these two accidents is asked to call the police at 816-238-TIPS.
