Accident at Frederick and Riverside

The vehicle is towed away after a single-vehicle accident that caused serious injuries early Wednesday morning.

A 22-year-old St. Joseph man suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash that shut down a portion of Riverside Road and Frederick Boulevard early Wednesday morning.

Ozzie E. Rodriguez, who was the only occupant in the vehicle, was transported to Mosaic Life Care and then to the University of Kansas Hospital, where he is in serious condition. St. Joseph police said the driver's El Camino was northbound on Riverside Road when it struck a concrete traffic barrier.

Police closed the intersection shortly after midnight. It reopened to traffic at about 3 a.m.
