Two people charged in the death of a two-year-old

According to court documents, 46-year-old Christopher Wilson and 22-year-old Avery Young are charged with murder and endangering the welfare of a child in a 2-year-old’s death.

Two people in Chillicothe, Missouri, are charged with murder and child endangerment after a 2-year-old was found dead on Christmas Eve.

According to court documents, 46-year-old Christopher Wilson and 22-year-old Avery Young are charged with felonies of murder and endangering the welfare of a child.

Court documents state officers arrived to 1574 Calhoun St. in Chillicothe at about 3 p.m. on Dec. 24 on a call for an unresponsive 2-year-old. In a probable cause statement, an officer said they asked Wilson if he knew the child was dead at the time of the call and he stated yes.

Investigators made contact with Avery Young, the mother, who allegedly admitted she had put the child to bed over 24 hours earlier and had not checked on the toddler, court documents said. Wilson also told investigators he did not check on the child.

Both allegedly admitted to using methamphetamines regularly as well as during the time the child was left upstairs, the documents said.

Bond was denied for both Wilson and Young. Wilson is not the father of the deceased child but has six kids of his own, none of which he has custody of, according to court documents.
