A Gower, Missouri, man faces a charge of felony assault for allegedly using a baseball bat to attack and injure another man.

Chad O. Allison, 46, is the defendant in the case, according to officials in the Buchanan County prosecutor’s office.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department dispatched a deputy to a residence on Southeast U.S. Highway 169, outside of St. Joseph, at about 9 p.m. May 29. According to a probable cause statement filed by Deputy Dennis Yager, Allison broke into the residence and using a wooden baseball bat repeatedly struck a victim living in the house.

The victim sustained “serious physical injury,” including broken bones to his left forearm and in his lower back a broken vertebrae, stated Ron Holliday, the assistant Buchanan County prosecutor.

Associate Circuit Judge Keith Marquart issued a warrant for Allison’s arrest and ruled the defendant is a danger to his victim. The judge denied bail.

Allison is being held in the Buchanan County Jail, and he will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday, June 2, before Marquart.
