An Excelsior Springs, Mo., couple were arrested Saturday after allegedly causing a disturbance at a park in Chillicothe, Mo.

Police were dispatched to Danner Park during a school-related softball game. A man and a woman were allegedly yelling and cursing at coaches, umpires and school officials, according to a Chillicothe Police Department release.

The couple, Jon and Heather Pelzer, were taken into custody after refusing to leave. The two were processed at the Chillicothe Police Department and transferred to the Daviess-DeKalb Regional Jail.

Mr. Pelzer was initially taken into custody on investigative charges of trespassing, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia and being a convicted sex offender in a public park.

He was ultimately charged with the sex offender charge, a Class D felony. His bond was set at $5,000.

Ms. Pelzer was charged with first-degree trespassing, a misdemeanor. She had been taken into custody on investigative charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Her bond was set at $1,000.
