The Downtown Tiger’s Den will be one of about 20 locations that will participate in the ‘Sassy & Classy Wine & Art Walk’ on Saturday.

Since moving her business to Downtown St. Joseph, Dottie Douglas, owner of Polished & Pampered Salon & Day Spa, looks forward to every “Wine & Art Walk.”

“I love decorating my windows. I love entertaining. So that’s something that comes very natural to me,” she said.

Douglas won’t be the only one welcoming the public to in its business for wine, music and festivities, as about 20 other Downtown locations will participate in the “Sassy & Classy Wine & Art Walk.” It will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2.

With each walk being a little different, this iteration, which has Adrienne Waggoner and Douglas serving as chairpersons for the event, aimed to add a little class to it — but not too much.

“We’re not asking everyone to get dressed up. But you know, sometimes it’s hard to get your husband out of his sweats and tennis shoes. You know, ‘Just put on a nice pair of jeans and loafers and let’s stroll around Downtown and really slow it down,’” Douglas said.

The walk will have people visiting a variety of Downtown locations, taking in some art, music and wine. Locations included are: Zion Church, Kendall Photography, First Presbyterian Church, Eclipz Gourmet Popcorn, Simply Tea, Cafe Pony Espresso, Nesting Goods, Manic Snail, Felix Street Gourmet, Brioche, Tiger’s Den, The Lucky Tiger, Mod Podge, Polished & Pampered, Club Geek, Black Kat Salvage, Mokaska, Allied Arts Council and Hunterland Mall.

Douglas said with the walk being the final one before winter weather sets in, they’re looking to go all out.

“We just can’t wait. We have a lot of people excited. We will actually be taking pictures of couples ... (we’ll have) cruise-like type stuff, if you want to dress up and get it captured. We’re having a photo contest going on. So we really want people to enjoy (it),” Douglas said.

Photo booths will be available at various locations. Prizes will be given for Classiest Dressed, Sassiest Dressed, and Best Celebrity Couple (real or fictional).

Tickets are $25 and are in limited amount. They can be purchased www.downtownfirst.org or at Nesting Goods (cash only) at 615 Felix St. Each ticket holder will get a Downtown First stemless wine cup and a discount card to be used at more than a dozen Downtown businesses throughout the rest of the year.

Participants must be 21 or older to sample wine. ID will be required, regardless of age.
